About

Western Counties Ski Club is a ski race training club affiliated with Snowsport England and based at Gloucester Ski and Snowboard Centre.  We normally train on Monday evenings throughout the year, from 6:30pm to 8.30pm.  This is often followed by post-training socialising in the ski centre’s covered outdoor space.  New members of all ages are welcome and you can find information about the centre at https://www.gloucesterski.com/.

The ethos of the club is to provide ski race training that is effective, supportive and enjoyable for all ages. Our coaching team provides individual-aimed coaching rather than fixed instructional courses, allowing members to book training sessions to suit their availability and develop skills at their own pace.

A training session will typically begin with a warm-up, move on to skiing and racing techniques open-hill and finish with training runs through a slalom course aimed at practicing the techniques and skills being acquired.

We also run specialised race training camps at Gloucester Ski and Snowboard Centre several times a year and an annual camp at SnowWorld Landgraaf.

Annual membership costs £25 and there is a coaching charge of £5 per session for members. In addition, you need to pay the Ski Centre for your time on the slope. For more details please see our Membership and Policies page.
